Tadika Suria Bestari (Goshen), Ipoh, Perak creates a nurturing space for 2- to 6-year-olds to “Grow, Shine, Love, Learn and Develop Confidence”. The kindergarten aims to foster children’s intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth while caring for them outside of their home environment. Every child who attends school here is respected by the teachers for their unique individualities. Working together with parents, it is the kindergarten’s core mission to raise confident, inquisitive, thoughtful and kind children.
Within this fun learning environment, teachers use the trusted Goshen Programme to help equip children with the academic foundations and life skills necessary for them to become independent lifelong learners. The Goshen Programme was developed by an experienced preschool principal who wanted all children to be able to grow and learn through an enriching curriculum and have lots of fun along the way. To this day, celebrating 25 years of excellence, the Goshen Programme continues to meet the latest needs of children’s early education.
Regardless of where a child is in his education journey when he joins Tadika Suria Bestari, the Goshen Programme is designed to meet each child at his level of development. The programme takes into account children’s age, existing subject knowledge, personality, interests, and individual needs. It incorporates various aspects of Maths, Science, Languages, Critical Thinking, Listening, and Speaking into the curriculum for a well-rounded education. The learning outcomes also follow the Malaysian National Preschool Curriculum.
Tadika Suria Bestari aims for children to be well-versed in three languages – English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Chinese – by the age of 6. This is done through a combination of instructional teaching and play-based learning that also effectively equips children with critical life skills for the modern society.
As a kindergarten operating under Goshen, Tadika Suria Bestari is designed to offer safe environments which promote healthy exploration and curiosity. Furnishings in the classrooms and play areas are child-sized, which encourage independence and development of gross-motor skills. All classrooms are equipped with different learning stations (such as Science corners) and materials that stimulate children to learn across a wide range of subjects. With an environment conducive to growth, children adapt quickly into their routines, knowing what is to be expected once they arrive at the kindergarten. Teaching materials are also designed to be age appropriate; they are constantly updated and rotated to keep each child interested and to comply with the Malaysian curriculum.
To complement the Goshen Programme, Tadika Suria Bestari also offers a one-to-one after school programme for its students, where teachers help children revise the day’s learning activities to help them understand better. In addition, there are other programmes that cover children’s different interests and to keep them occupied during school holidays. For example, cooking, drama and music are incorporated into the schedule to allow children to pursue a special interest outside of the typical academic curriculum.
On top of that, the kindergarten also hosts many extracurricular activities and encourages parents to get involved. These activities include field trips, Sports Days, festivity celebrations, graduations, and concerts.
The teachers here are hired based on their passion for early childhood education. They are required to have the necessary qualifications, but more importantly, the enthusiasm and a forward-thinking mindset. Prior to starting their role as a Goshen educator at Tadika Suria Bestari, they are trained to meet Goshen’s standards. Thereafter, regular in-house training workshops are held to make sure teachers utilise effective teaching strategies and have better classroom management.
Tadika Suria Bestari recognises the importance of maintaining positive parent-school relationships. Therefore, the teachers work closely with parents to ensure children achieve desired learning outcomes. The moment children set foot inside the school, teachers observe and record children’s behaviour and growth in ongoing progress reports. In conjunction with parents’ feedback, teachers are able to respond to questions or queries regarding each child’s development, and prepare them for primary school.
Tadika Suria Bestari always puts the education of children first and strives to adapt to advances in technology, while welcoming new ideas and changes to benefit all its students and their families. Over the years, graduates of Tadika Suria Bestari are known to be well-quipped with literacy, numeracy, and socio-emotional skills needed to succeed in primary school, and in the modern world. They are lifelong learners who can proudly say that their formative years at Tadika Suria Bestari have set them up for a meaningful life of constant learning.
