The Gifted Kids Care Centre, Subang Jaya

The Gifted Kids Care Centre, Subang Jaya is an extension of Pine Hills International School that provides academic and therapy support for students with special needs. It caters for children with various disabilities, aged 3 to 10 years. The main aim is to empower students to move past their learning obstacles so they can transfer into mainstream schooling and be able to cope, academically and socially. Through a distinctive approach, every child will find his or her individual opportunity to shine.

The centre is carefully designed to feel safe and welcoming for all. It offers a personalised environment to match every student’s unique needs that are not typically addressed in a traditional school setting. Broad Spectrum of Learning Differences and Disabilities

Here, they celebrate differences and value diversity. They address a broad spectrum of specialty areas, including but not limited to: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, dyslexia, auditory processing disorder, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, language processing disorder, global developmental delay and children who have difficulties adapting to mainstream classes.

Individualised Education Programme

Rather than requiring students to fit within a rigid, pre-determined programme, special educational needs (SEN) teachers work hand in hand with occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists and psychologists to come up with a comprehensive individualised education plan for the child. Together, they address the pre-assessed special learning needs of the students in small group and individual settings.

Using a tailored multidisciplinary approach, students are supported to proceed at their own pace to overcome learning disabilities and simultaneously grow in intellectual, social, emotional and physical development. They are guided through their strengths and follow the Cambridge international curriculum academically. Step by step from basic concepts, they transfer this knowledge to more complex academic activities.

As with any other school, learning is not just about academics. Students are exposed to a wide variety of opportunities to get creative with the arts, engage in healthy physical movement, and to nurture day-to-day skills needed for independent living. During break times and club activities on Fridays, they get to mix around with other students from the mainstream classes. Being able to do so helps raise their self-confidence and strengthen interpersonal skills.  

Transition Education and Vocational Training

Over time, students will gain improved ability and confidence to reach for greater heights as a learner. When they are ready, they will move into mainstream classes. It is also a goal of The Gifted Kids Care Centre to facilitate older students to successfully transition into the world of work with vocational training based on their personal interests and goals.  

A Team of Professional Staff

The teaching staff and professional support faculty at The Gifted Kids Care Centre are trained and experienced at what they do. They pace students’ progress individually and provide parents with timely updates, including quarterly progressive reports from panel doctors. 

Online Therapy

Recognising the importance of continuity and consistency in therapy are to the development of special students, The Gifted Kids Care Centre also offers online therapy. Sessions are delivered through a virtual platform, making it possible for students to receive the assistance and support they need to thrive, wherever and whenever they need it.
