Inside the ever bustling Ampang lies Little Baby Childcare Centre, a quaint and homey institution that aims to provide the best care for parents and infants. At the sight of this two-storey institution, located in the neighbourhood of Taman Kelab Ukay, Little Baby Childcare welcomes you with calm colours that’ll make you feel at ease. Stepping into the school, I was greeted by the founder of Little Baby Childcare, Ms. Ann, with a warm smile as she ushered me in.

Doing It for the Kids

As I began talking to the founder, it was eminent to me that she is deeply passionate about childcare. Ms. Ann was previously a co-owner of a kindergarten located in Cheras with experience in teaching and taking care of children. Prior to opening her own childcare centre, Ms. Ann took a break from teaching temporarily to focus on her baby. During this time, she realised that taking care of children and ensuring that they get the best care is more meaningful to her than anything else.

This childcare centre offers play-based learning for infants and children from the tender age of 2 months up to 4 years.

Holistic Learning

At Little Baby Childcare, parents can be assured that their child gets the best in terms of early education. Classes are conducted in small groups and are age-appropriate, to suit each child. Little Baby Childcare is a trilingual (English, Malay & Mandarin) childcare centre that follows the PERMATA syllabus, a wholesome syllabus developed locally to nurture and support each child with 7 different domains, each developed to ensure a child’s positive growth. The 7 learning domains are incorporated into everyday learning which include:

Little Baby Childcare also tracks the development of their children through a Developmental Milestone checklist. In accordance with studies on infant and toddler development, there are 4 main areas of the Development Milestone checklist which include Social & Emotional Development, Language & Communication Development, Physical Development, and Cognitive Development which includes the ability to learn, think, and problem-solve independently. Therefore, the activities here are designed to fulfil the Developmental Milestone checklist at different ages using the 7 learning domains. The centre also provides potty training for toddlers, so parents need not worry about their child being potty trained!

The centre offers full-day and also half-day programmes to suit each parent’s needs. They operate as early as 7:30 AM until 6:30 PM. In addition, children are fed wholesome meals prepared in-house with a variety of organic and healthy ingredients to ensure to are well nourished; meals are balanced with little or no added sugar and sodium.

A Safe and Supportive Environment

Your child is of utmost priority at Little Baby Childcare. Amenities are appropriately child-sized, from tables, chairs and even the toilets to ensure that each child feels comfortable and safe. Safety measures such as the use of baby gates and a total of 8 CCTVs all over the premises shows that the safety of each child is well taken care of. Besides that, parents are updated about their child’s learning activities and progress through a mobile application. Pick up and drop off can only be done by authorised individuals.

A dedicated Baby Room equipped with cots, playmats and a small pantry lies on the second floor of the building. Viewing windows are fitted for maximum safety and only staff are allowed inside the Baby Room. CCTVs are also present in the Baby Room as extra safety measures. On top of that, the centre has policies that encourage and support continued breastfeeding. 

Parents can breathe a sigh of relief to know that their child is in the hands of competent and qualified teachers. Here, the teachers are equipped with skills fit for early childhood education. What makes it even more special is that even the founder, Ms. Ann is certified with the PERMATA Basic Child Care Course and even in First-Aid. All teachers must undergo the PERMATA Basic Child Care Course before being officially employed by Little Baby Childcare.

Strict SOPs are put in place to protect each child from the threat of COVID-19. Social distancing markers are put in place at all areas and children are to adhere to them. Besides that, temperature checks are done thrice each day; once in the morning during drop off, once in the afternoon, and once during pick up. Hand sanitizers are provided at the centre and children are regularly reminded to sanitize and wash their hands. Little Baby Childcare Centre is also sanitized following strict procedure.
