Thirty-five years after Jean Gan Academy of Ballet & Music first opened its doors, they have inspired thousands of students to unveil their hidden talents through participation in dance and music. The Academy is unique in that students are able to learn professional techniques and hone their skills as performers while developing positive inner values and a love for the arts.

The Academy offers well-rounded programmes for children and adults of all ages and capabilities. There’s placement for every student, whether focused on after-school enrichment or developing the techniques needed to become a professional. It’s never too early to start nurturing children’s creativity and love of dance.
The Academy was the first to introduce Baby Ballet for toddlers from age 3 years and up. Baby Ballet is designed to start budding young performers on their exciting artistic adventure. Little ones begin to develop balance, fine motor skills, mind and body coordination, and spatial awareness as they are led through imaginative dance classes that involves play and music. The programme offerings also include Classical and Adult Ballet and other dance disciplines, such as Modern Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop, as well as piano classes. Dedicated attention ensures students thrive with a strong technical foundation, involving classical lines, coordination, balance, poise, style and expression, that propels them reach their full potential.
It is a rite of passage for students to present to an audience and be exposed to performance opportunities where they can exhibit their hard work and progress. The Academy provides plenty of such opportunities through recitals, holiday programmes, examinations and school concerts. All students are encouraged to participate as such experiences are invaluable to their development in terms confidence, sense of achievement, aspirations for future career goals and appreciation for the arts.
Students learn beyond their worlds at Jean Gan Academy of Ballet & Music. The holistic training of dance and music connects the body to the mind. It draws out the confidence, independence and self-respect to build up an individual’s personal best. In the continuous pursuit of personal excellence, the Academy also teaches students philanthropic values by which charitable giving is encouraged. In fact, once every two years, the proceeds from the school’s concerts are donated to a charitable cause. These skills and values are all-intangible and may not be visible on the termly progress reports but are definitely invaluable life skills that can have a large impact on each student’s future.
Under the direction of passionate teachers, the Academy continues its legacy of training generations of creative performers and professionals. Their alumni are now returning to enroll their own children, which is a true testimony to the Jean Gan methodology.
Even as the Academy expands, the vision will always remain the same.
