Located at Bukit Jalil, a premium foundation school for toddlers can be found, and it is called ABC Tot. Here, little ones as young as two years old get to spend quality time in an environment highly conducive for learning, exploring and building some important life skills.
Today’s parents no longer are willing to wait till their children are 5 or 6 years old and send them just to kindergarten or preschool before they enter primary school. They know now that their precious children will be missing out on important learning opportunities while they are still toddlers, when their brains are still absorbing information like sponges. More families in Bukit Jalil are now getting to know about ABC Tot and all that it has to offer for a toddler’s growth and development. Kiddy123 decided to unravel the finer points of this unique toddler school and its unique curriculum.
Using a Story-based Multiple Intelligence Approach, the curriculum offered at ABC Tot are meant to uncover the various types of intelligence and intellectual qualities of children between the ages of 2 to 4, and fully leverage them. It is worth to note too that the approach acknowledges and respects the fact that no two children are the same in their level of growth and development, or in their skills and talents. Hence, toddlers attending ABC Tot will get ample opportunities to thrive during their critical growing and learning period.
The Multiple Intelligence theory shares that children ideally should be helped in the development of their Linguistic-Verbal Intelligence; Logical-Mathematical Intelligence; Visual-Spatial Intelligence; Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence; and Musical Intelligence; Interpersonal Intelligence; Intrapersonal Intelligence; and also their Naturalistic Intelligence; and Existential Intelligence. With this Story-Based Multiple Intelligence approach, teachers extract the essence of selected educational stories and use them when designing fun activities and lessons for their little students. With stories as the base, teachers strive to help little ones develop and leverage on the intelligence most prominent in them, which helps to greatly contribute to the holistic development of the little students.
The caring and highly qualified teachers at ABC Tot provide their little students with as much attention as they need with small-sized classroom so that each child gets to thrive in his or her activities and lessons. Teachers also guide the children in building useful life skills and good habits which are all beneficial for their future. ABC Tot Bukit Jalil Teachers also make it a point to submit a written report on each child’s progress before uploading them onto the school’s app. This is done daily, so that parents will always be kept informed on the goings on of their littleones in school every day.
Not all families have the same timetable or schedule to work with. Some may have more free time and some may not. Understanding this, ABC Tot offers a few options in their operation schedule so that families have a few options to choose from. They are 2 days; 3 days or 5 days a week, and also the option of half day or full day for their daycare service. Parents have found these options to be of great help to them, especially those who do not have the opportunity to work with regular school hours.
With personalised attention and small, manageable classrooms, teachers help the little ABC Tot attendees cultivate useful daily life skills alongside good habits that will help make them into better individuals. Children are known to respond well to routine, hence ABC Tot sees to it that the little ones follow a routine of good daily life practices, including hygiene habits, self care, cleaning up after themselves, keeping their learning space neat and tidy, putting back their things, etc.
Little ones are also guided in better virtues such as responsibility, kindness, politeness, respect, and good manners - all the qualities that will help them grow up into amiable, respectful adults. Their self-confidence will also be nurtured, which in turn will help them have a healthy sense of worthiness.
There are many fun-filled activities lined up for children at ABC Tot, using the Story-based Multiple Intelligence approach. For each day spent at the school, they will go home having learned something new and exciting.
The school is particularly proud of its Collaborative Cooking programme, an activity which allows little children to take charge in a kitchen designed for their usage, as in children-friendly. They get to prepare a meal, or make some snacks, either on their own as individuals, or, as a team with other children. Either way, the activity trains children from a young age to have a healthy appreciation for food, food preparation, cleanliness in the kitchen, food safety, the sharing of tasks, cooperation and much more.
Every weekend, ABC Tot has a collaboration with acclaimed children’s art centre, Mi Art, and the results are nothing short of inspirational! Much in line with the approach used at ABC Tot, Mi Art is actually an abbreviation of Multiple Intelligence Art. Instead of having to contend with their little ones showing off their creative inspirations on their house walls or floors, the Mi Art session at ABC Tot, held each weekend, is a much better way for children to get creative and let their imaginations take the wheel. Parents love how their kids are thriving in these classes, and there is always much talent to uncover in little children via their efforts and creations!
The Mi Art Classes available are as follows: Messy Art (3-6 years old); Explorer Art (6-9 years old); and Adventurer (9-12 years old).
