Aloha, you find the place that you belong, ‘Ohana’ (‘Family’ in Japanese) ...a memory for your own in the school of Jean Gan.
Jean Gan Academy of Ballet & Music has been an amazing 12 years journey for me. Not only am I blessed to learn in this school, but it has taught me many lessons since the age of six. From learning to dance, to maintaining my healthy lifestyle, and expressing my feelings through dance; I have grown a lot in this school - I have learnt to never give up and to always try. "You don't try, you'll never know", our principal would say. Ms Gan has always been an inspiration to me. She has taught us a lot of things, from making sure we don't hunch our backs, to setting our goals and achieving them.
It has been a wonderful journey in Jean Gan Academy and I would like to thank my parents, teachers and principal for always supporting me. Thank you once again.

“If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.” Jean Gan Academy has continuously created opportunities to challenge her students and groom them to be who they are today. Stepping on stage and performing after hours of training is similar as walking into a conference and delivering a presentation to an audience for work. Having that exposure so young is a benefit that will change your life. I myself started to perform very late with Jean Gan, but still today when anxious of stepping in front of customers or audience, I remind myself of the day I performed a Pas De Deux in front of a concert hall full of people, if I managed that, a few customers are nothing. Challenging yourself, pushing yourself to perfection without any monetary gain but the sole pleasure and reward of the clap of an audience, shapes you in ways you will never forget. For that, I am grateful to the school...

“Dancing has given me some life skills that will take me well into adulthood. It taught me persistence, commitment, dedication and teamwork. We have to be persistent and persevere to keep rehearsing our moves to perfection. Teamwork is important for flawless execution on the dance floor. Dance is about creativity too. Ballet especially taught me strength, poise, elegance and being graceful. These are skills acquired which will carry me well into my future endeavours. Thank you to Jean Gan Academy.”

"My name is Kee Siok Lan (the grandmother of Poon Zhi Ming). My grandson Poon Zhi Ming had been unwell with heart problem and he needs to undergo an operation. The operation was very successful and Zhi Ming has recovered. He is now a very healthy and normal child and is attending kindergarten. He is progressing and coping well in the kindergarten. Seeing him so happy and well, I just couldn't find words adequate enough to thank Jean Gan Academy of Ballet & Music for the wonderful contribution towards the cost of the operation. You have given someone an opportunity to lead a normal life. I pray and bless that you will continue to strive on with the charity concerts.
Thank you."

My mummy, little sister and I love ballet dancing very much. My mummy learned to dance ballet for 10 years. She continues her love of ballet in me since I was three. Everytime when I dance, I feel like a butterfly reaching out to the rainbow in the sky. Our love for ballet is forever.

I’ve been dancing with the Jean Gan Academy of Ballet & Music for more than 18 years, far longer than my formal schooling education. I’m glad to have made this journey in dance, particularly in my more advanced grades, where, I’ve learnt to appreciate ballet not only as a very demanding yet beautiful form of art, but in many ways a discipline of the body and mind when it comes to work, play and life.
I am always humbled by the amount of work required to achieve the highest grand jetés when it all really starts with technically solid basics of a simple battement tendu. Ballet is a true reflection that a strong foundation can lead to a great finish, something that short cuts will never amount to.
Thanks to the continuous support and guidance of my teachers at Jean Gan Academy, this journey of dance has been a most incredible one, and something I hope to inspire others to explore.
