Strawberry Wonderland has a sound reputation of providing excellent preschool education to families for a dozen years. This award-winning preschool is managed by Madam Tan, a holder of a master’s degree in preschool education, a mother of three and a passionate educator. She works diligently and closely with her team, in partnership with families, to give each individual child a quality education where potentials are realised. She gives her time to maintain a wonderful learning environment for both the children and her staff.
Both inside and outside environments create different opportunities which inspire and stimulate learning. Classrooms are well-presented to the children to ignite interest and exploration. The preschool is bordered by a small playground providing a balance of spaces to run and climb, as well as the experiences that children need to develop their gross motor skills, coordination and balance.
The curriculum is designed to provide the foundation for success in later schooling, where teachers will encourage and guide:
Most of these skills and the understanding of these concepts are developed every day through fun daily routines that are play-based and activity-centred. Children come together in small groups, learn to work together, share their thoughts, socialise, respect others and begin to take responsibility for their own actions. No two days will be the same. Children will be learning about sizes, shapes and colours; playing games indoors and outdoors; taking part in everyday experiences like cooking and tidying up; reading and listening to stories; practicing public speaking in front of friends and families; singing, dancing and painting; investigating interests across various unique themes; sharing cultures through different traditional celebrations. The school has a proprietary interactive learning software which is designed and developed to enhance learning and make the process an interesting one for children. Different resources and experiences such as concerts, sports days, family days, field trips, holiday camps and educational campaigns stimulate imagination and create wonder in learning.
Teachers embrace a strong emphasis on providing a smooth transition from preschool to the more formalised environment of primary school. The learning setting is rearranged to become more structured and the educational focus is enhanced to refine knowledge and strengthen school-readiness skills that children need. This does not mean that learning becomes stringent; it is still carried out in a fun and meaningful way through hands-on activities and experiential experiences. Teachers are also mindful of the social and emotional aspects, and that each child responds to transitions differently.
The preschool endeavours to construct open and communicative partnerships with families. Parents remain informed with periodic reports on their child’s progress and through daily face-to-face communication. Additionally, the preschool runs on a two-session system, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, making it flexible to accommodate to parents who have to attend to other responsibilities.
Parents can be assured that Strawberry Wonderland provides high standards of care and supervision for children aged 2.5 to 6 years. Each child’s wellbeing and comfort are provided for. Effective hygiene practices and safety procedures are implemented to maintain an environment that is safe and where risk of illnesses is kept as low as reasonably practicable. The kindergarten compound is highly secure with a CCTV surveillance system and strict drop-off and pick-up procedures. It is a place of wonder, as the name suggests, for children to be engaged in endless opportunities, get a great start to their learning journey, and grow into competent future leaders in the society.
