Shambala Kidz Leadership Pre-School (SKLPS), Ponderosa students and alumni approach life with confidence and a sense of adventure. The preschool provides a stimulating educational environment that fosters a passion for learning with opportunities abound in an atmosphere dedicated to effective coaching practices. Coaches are committed to administer education that meets student’s abilities, needs and interests, as well as encourage participation in an enriched co-curricular programme. Students are challenged to develop intellectually, socially, emotionally and creatively, with the ability to embrace good citizenship and community responsibility. On an equal scale of importance, values of diligence, respect, integrity and compassion are cultivated.
The physical plant of the preschool has all the hallmarks of a safe, positive climate. Appropriate facilities include well-managed classrooms, library, dining hall, swimming pool, sports facilities, dance studio, indoor playground, multi-function hall and more. The environment also has adequate safety and health supports in place: CCTV cameras, air purification and disinfection, access control doors, well-marked guards, detailed fire evacuation procedures, and car sticker system for authorized drop-offs and pick-ups.
Education is built upon the Shambala mission of helping students aged 3 to 6 years to become excited learners, critical thinkers, problem-solvers and competent leaders. The programme offerings accommodate the different learning styles and capabilities of each student, and are process oriented. Daily learning processes integrate key learning areas into thematic work:
Class sizes are small, facilitating more individual attention to recognize and acknowledge the strengths of each and every student. Dedicated coaches use developmentally appropriate practices to teach students how to learn, and to harness and nurture their potentials. As an outcome, students are able to think critically in order to evaluate what they read, see and hear – a skill paramount to structured education and life in general. High standards of discipline and respect are enforced to have students develop the necessary traits of a healthy personality and work well with others. Students will build a positive sense of self while assuming responsibility for the wellbeing of others.
SKLPS wants students to work creatively in order to fully express themselves as the unique individuals that they are. Students are given plenty of opportunities to hone their public speaking skills, helping them grow more confident over time; an extensive co-curricular programme schedule is maintained to foster the development of an all-rounded student; after-school classes such as Little Painter, Little Chef, Kids Yoga and Mini Golf support student’s interests and open new avenues of inspiration; educational outings and holiday programmes provide extra stimulation that can be particularly beneficial in helping students learn life skills, grow socially and improve independence.
Coaches are carefully selected not only for their academic qualifications and experience, but also for their ability to relate to each student in a patient, understanding manner. They feel passionate about what they do, they coach using only the best practices, and they communicate with parents regularly, remedying any issue with a professional and positive attitude. These attributes, alongside monthly training and yearly team building sessions are some of the most important components that make up the wonderful success at SKLPS. More than anything else, students come into school every morning happy, knowing that it is going to be a good, productive day.
