Every child has an innate sense of curiosity and creativity, with a desire to explore the world. As early years educators, MRC Kids Setia Taipan aims to develop and nurture these traits. They believe the best way to do this is with a curriculum that utilises effective tools to foster vital development of the whole brain. The focus of the MRC Kids programme is to lay the foundations for children’s all-round growth at an early age. It is done by stimulating both the left and right brain, training children to make decisions, solve problems and balance emotions. In a world where we can all access the same information through the internet, the school wants children to move beyond that. They want children to have the skills to apply the knowledge learnt in innovative ways to deal with the complex challenges that could come their way in the future and succeed in their lives.
At MRC Kids, a child’s journey begins at 3 years old as Explorers. They are constantly introduced to new materials, textures and media during learning sessions to build their imagination and inventiveness. Through a combination of play and creative activities, children explore the world around them and discover basic concepts of numbers, sounds, colours and more. As soon as children are ready, they are encouraged to commit to a greater sense of responsibility when they become Helpers at age 4. They gain confidence and a boost in self-esteem by offering assistance and generally helping each other in many ways. Every facet of education is guided by underlying principles that are well-researched and in line with our national standard preschool curriculum. Being further exposed to innovative learning techniques, such as drama and speech, Super Memory Map and project-based learning, breeds 5-year-old Thinkers and 6-year-old Leaders. During this transformative process, parents will be able to observe distinctive attributes of a MRC Kids learner develop in their child. They will see children grow to become knowledgeable individuals who are not afraid to express themselves, enjoy learning, and know how to apply thinking skills critically to come up with reasoned decisions or solutions.

Another very important aspect of the MRC Kids education system is that it acknowledges that children learn and understand in different ways. For example, one child may learn better through hands-on activities (kinesthetic intelligence), while another may prefer teachers to explain things verbally (verbal intelligence). Therefore, teachers here use different modes of instruction to introduce new knowledge in class to ensure each and every child gets a strong grasp of the early learning concepts. The learning model also provides plenty of opportunities to nurture children’s individual strengths and talents. Children get to participate in a nationwide annual drama and talent competition that is held to help reinforce their gifts in other intelligences, such as dancing and singing. All are inspired by Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences.
To allow for adequate growth in children and sufficient energy to fuel the abundance of activities, a healthy menu is encouraged in this school. Meals are prepared using fresh ingredients and are reviewed by Ms. Ida Ng, co-founder and certified dietitian with a degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, United States. Meal and snack times also make fantastic opportunities to teach children sharing and socialising skills. MRC Kids really strives to build a complete environment that is nurturing for children to grow up in and engaging for learning to happen.
Being part of the SMM Education Group, children and teachers at MRC Kids Setia Taipan will always be exposed to innovative tools and opportunities for growth that is backed by progressive research done by the parent company. There is constant reflection and commitment to develop effective learning approaches to ensure children will be well-prepared for tomorrow’s world.
