Many parents with children under three often contemplate whether to send their kids to preschool or not. Will they cope? What about the separation? Don’t they just play in school? Teachers incorporate lots of real-life objects, play-based materials, animations and games into the lessons so that children find it engaging and fun. Often times, it does look like children are just playing but they are actually learning essential social, emotional, educational and life skills through play.
The curriculum covers various areas of learning, as shown in the table below. Teachers pay attention to what children are interested in, then plan different themes that help children expand their knowledge and skills in different aspects. By connecting many areas of the curriculum together, it is easier for children to get a deeper understanding of how things work. For example, as children learn about insects, they discuss their habitats and life cycles, which is science; teaching them the body parts incorporates mathematics, e.g. number of legs, and art, e.g. colours on a butterfly’s wings; by going outside to look for insects children get to build stronger gross motor skills. This approach does not only introduce academic knowledge to children but also life skills, and problem-solving and creative thinking capabilities.

Discover Children’s Talents
As the 3Q education system is all about fostering the development of the whole brain and the whole child, there are plenty of opportunities tailored towards talent extraction among the children. This innovative programme also encourages children to sing, dance, tell stories, perform and excel physically. Every year, there is an international talent competition that brings children from all 3Q schools together and gives all a chance to showcase their talents in front of a big audience. This makes the educational journey a lot more meaningful as the outside world requires more than just grades to succeed but rather it needs people who are creative, confident and can express themselves well.
