Lycee Francais de Kuala Lumpur (LFKL), also known as The French School of Kuala Lumpur was established in 1962. To date, the school has more than 730 students from 47 different countries, from kindergarten to high school. Situated at the heart of Jalan Dutamas Raya, Kuala Lumpur, LFKL teaches a French curriculum with an emphasis on cultural, artistic, technical, scientific, literary and sports activities.
The LFKL is part of the AEFE; a global network of 500 French schools in 137 countries. French schools abroad share a unique curriculum, allowing students to pursue their studies anywhere around the world. The AEFE also offers scholarships to foreign bachelors who wish to pursue their studies in France.
The school provides an outstanding environment delivering academic excellence that is based on a multilingual teaching. Our education embraces cultural diversity and promotes an international outlook to empower future generations and make meaningful contributions to our world - Patrick Castera, Primary School Director
The LFKL kindergarten welcomes children from the age of 2.5 years old to 6 years old, and is committed to helping each individual child to become more independent while maintaining a high level of academic excellence. In kindergarten, the child establishes relationships with other children and with adults. Well-structured activities and lessons not only require children to exercise their motor, sensory, emotional, and intellectual skills they also teach children to be lifelong learners. Each lesson is taught by qualified French teachers attached to the Ministry of National Education and by professional English native-speaking teachers.
The Kindergarten curriculum, without hourly curricular requirements, presents major domains of activity to be covered over the three years preceding the start of compulsory schooling; it fixes the objectives to be attained and the skills to acquire before the passage into primary school. In implementing the curriculum, the developmental stages and rhythm of the child must be taken into account - Patrick Castera, Primary School Director
The following is a picture of the LFKL's new primary school, called Hevea, that will be opening soon. Hevea is located in a brand new building accessible by foot from the current LFKL School. The school will accommodate 350 students in a spacious, modern and safe environment. Hevea will be adapted to younger children and will offer new facilities and digital equipment to provide an innovative and interactive learning.
Following the curriculum established by the French Ministry of National Education, the kindergarten program includes 6 principal areas of learning.
