“As in any venture, Tadika Hati Ria started out from a necessity, albeit personal, but soon turned into a labour of love. Love for nurturing young impressionable minds and love for inculcating a sense of responsibility and of goodness in the little ones that pass through its doors.” so enthuses its principal, Madam Julie Yu.
“As a parent, I want my children to have the very best that I can provide, especially in education. I wanted my children to have a good and solid foundation on which to base their education and future,” recalls Madam Julie. Finding no avenues available, she decided to take matters into her own hands. Madam Julie drew on her vast years of experience as a translator, tuition teacher, caregiver and kindergarten teacher and painstakingly and methodically formulated her own system of teaching children to recognize and read words and sentences – the foundation and building blocks upon which a child’s early cognitive years are based.
Students are guided by Tadika Hati Ria teachers, on a one-to-one basis, to recognize and remember words. The words that they have learned are repeated in short and simple sentences and stories. All these are designed to arouse their reading interest thus reinforcing the learning effectiveness. There are different levels of proficiency so that the little ones will not be intimidated or get discouraged. Students only proceed to the next level when they have mastered the present one.
Tadika Hati Ria is made up of a cluster of three buildings. The main administrative building is made up of two double-storey houses side by side. The third is just on the opposite, along the same road. Upon approaching the main building, we found that we were required to sign-in on a visitors’ book before we were allowed to enter. There were CCTVs in every classroom and open area.
A walk through of the kindergarten revealed brightly painted classrooms and open spaces with numerous handicrafts and creative artwork produced by the children everywhere.
We have a responsibility to the parents. As we develop the children academically, their creative tendencies are not neglected. -- Madam Julie
Besides the traditional English, Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, Mathematics and Science classes, Tadika Hati Ria also has in its curriculum Moral Studies, Mental Arithmetic, Art and Craft, Story Telling and Han Yu Pin Yin. There are even holiday programmes specially formulated for the children that include swimming lessons (yes, Tadika Hati Ria has its own swimming pool), special art and craft classes, visits to factories and places of interest.
The one enduring impression of Tadika Hati Ria is Madam Julie’s passion for the children in her care and her belief that “Every child deserves a solid foundation upon which to build their futures.”
