Dr Solarise Learning Home, Ayer Itam offers preschool and full day care services for children aged 3 to 6 years. Here, children are valued as unique individuals who will be supported to reach their full potential in all aspects of early childhood development. For the team of teachers, it’s important that children are happy to come every day, and they also focus on building respectful relationships with the parents.
Located within a 2000 square feet shoplot, the preschool is conveniently located on Jalan Paya Terubung, creating a hassle-free pick up and drop off for families. Inside the fully-air conditioned centre, everything is neatly organised with child-sized furniture and shelving units that give children more access to learning materials, which is important for their independence. Facilities also include individual classrooms, a reading corner, playing area, performance stage, and an open area that can cater to different activities.
Even before the pandemic, the teachers diligently follow the best practices possible to enhance safety and lower the risk of COVID-19 transmission within their centre. Temperature and health checks are enforced every morning to maintain safe operations; the entrance of the centre is equipped with an air disinfection machine to mitigate the risk of infection; the whole centre is sanitised several times a day; students and staff are required to be tested for COVID-19 every 2 weeks; and a full CCTV surveillance system is installed to ensure a secure environment.
At Dr Solarise Learning Home, teachers are qualified and passionate about providing children with the best early learning experiences. They begin with the basics and cover everything a growing child needs to learn, including literacy, numeracy and an array of skills needed for primary school. And they carry out lessons and activities in small groups of not more than 12 students at a time. This way, children get more personal attention to progress in their learning.
The programmes at Dr Solarise Learning Home provide lots of hands-on and play-based activities that contribute to children’s academic, social, emotional and physical development. For the youngest bunch – the 3-year-olds – many multisensory activities are used to introduce the world to them.
As they grow older, the eDaya Multimedia Learning Programme and UC Science Programme are integrated into the curriculum. Both are in compliance with the Malaysian National Preschool Standard Curriculum. The eDaya Multimedia Learning Programme features interactive classroom software which comprises animation, songs, stories and entertaining games to boost children’s engagement. Every lesson is well-structured to strengthen the right brain, encourage proper language learning, enhance children’s memory, stimulate their creativity, and improve their thinking abilities.
Every month, teachers deliver a variety of lessons and activities based on a common theme, such as vehicles and animals, to keep children excited. This method of teaching helps children learn across a variety of subject areas from art and music to math and science. On a side note, during pre-pandemic times, children also had the opportunity to visit the farm, hop onto different vehicles, and try their hands at sushi making, in order to get a much better understanding of how their subjects apply to the real world.
No matter which level children are at, teachers make a great effort to give children a solid foundation for lifelong education, while ensuring that the little ones enjoy their days spent here. A great deal of time is also spent to nurture children’s practical life skills, as well as fostering children with positive character traits and attitude. Besides giving children the opportunities to learn, Dr Solarise Learning Home focuses on the importance of good nutrition for children in these age groups, as healthy eating is necessary for proper growth and development. In addition, the preschool also offers enjoyable after-school programmes, including martial arts, ukulele, Bahasa Malaysia language classes and art.
Although the preschool has only been opened for a few years, the team at Dr Solarise Learning Home works hard to ensure every aspect of the centre is taken care of properly. This includes building strong parent-teacher relationships and keeping parents informed at all times, which at the end of the day is to provide what’s in the best interest of the students.
