Eduwis Preschools, established in 1987, has always been a pinnacle of early childhood education in Malaysia. With locations scattered all over Malaysia, parents have definitely put their trust on the Eduwis preschool & the curriculum. Eduwis Eco Majestic, Semenyih is the latest outlet to join the ever-growing Eduwis family, offering quality education to the local community.
Newly opened in January 2021, the school offers full day and half day programmes to for children ages 2 to 6 years old. They operate from 8.00 am until 2.00 pm for half day programmes, while full day students are welcomed to stay up to 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday.
The principal, Ms. Ashley, is a warm and motherly figure who oversees the school. She was previously in Human Resources, but took up Early Childhood Education training to pursue her passion. Ms. Ashley absolutely loves children, and it’s portrayed through her care towards the students at the centre.
Similar to other Eduwis branches, they offer the esteemed thematic integrated that is aimed to foster learning opportunities for curious, creative, and talented minds. The programme integrates 8 different educationist’s approaches, combining the best elements of each approach for a holistic education that gives focus to every aspect of a child’s development. Some of the key learning areas include Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin, Early Maths & Science, ICT, General Studies, Living Skills, and indoor & outdoor activities. Activities are designed to be hands-on experiences for the little ones so that they are never bored and are constantly intrigued with their surroundings.
Eduwis Eco Majestic categorises their students according to their ability rather than by age group so that students can relate to peers who have the same learning capabilities. Here, Ms. Ashley and the team does not put pressure on the kids as they believe it’s important for the children to learn and grow at their own pace. However, ongoing assessments are done to keep track of the child’s learning milestones.
Students are exposed to a diversified schedule, where each day they get to learn and explore various learning areas for a wholesome education. It’s compulsory for all children to take up piano lessons at the centre. Eduwis believes that piano lessons, carried out during Individual Learning Sessions in a short period of time to keep their attention, will help with their overall development and also assist them in their studies.
Eduwis offers a variety of other enrichment programmes that include Cambridge English Young Learners, made available to 5- and 6-year-olds. Other than that, the centre also offers speech & drama, music & movement, arts & craft, phonics, and Computational Thinking (Robotics). Students can also take up Computational Thinking or the Ladybird programme as part of their Individual Learning Session, other than piano lessons.
They also hold annual programmes such as storytelling, sports day, teacher’s day, field trips, graduations & concerts to help children constantly challenge themselves and bring out every talent each child has. Non-academic related activities are frequent at Eduwis, as they believe there is more than one metric to judge a child’s growth and improvement.
This cozy and spacious centre is fitted with wall-to-wall windows, providing ample natural sunlight for the students to bask in. A large open space in the middle provides room for children to run around, play, and interact with each other during school hours. Classrooms are also set to mimic a formal education setting to help children familiarise themselves with schooling environments. The size of the classroom is always kept small, with a ratio of 1 teacher to 8 students or at most 10 students per teacher.
The school is also equipped with an indoor playground, a mini garden with a variety of plants, portable sand pits and pools for sand play and water play, and an abundance of costumes for the children to role play with. CCTVs are installed throughout the centre and access to an emergency staircase to keep the children safe in case of emergencies. Teachers will send children down and pick them up daily, for extra security. Temperatures are every 2-3 hours, and the centre is thoroughly sanitised daily. Students are fed a well-balanced, halal menu, prepared full of love, in-house.
Teachers here are deeply passionate about Early Childhood Education and have a love for children. They are qualified, with a minimum Diploma in ECCE. Here, the team understands that in order for a child to fully understand what they have learnt, students need to be fulfilled & happy. Thus, the centre and Eduwis’s HQ invests in sending their teachers for monthly trainings provided by HQ, and also on the job training to help teachers manage each class better.
Parents are treated as family at Eduwis. The team at Eduwis realises the importance of developing excellent school-family relationships thus always take initiative to create a harmonious and trusting community. Parents are regularly updated via Eduwis’s in-house SIS app on their child’s learning milestones and developments. Parent-teacher meetings and other activities with parental involvement are held at the school to encourage parents to be involved in their child’s learning and take proactive steps to assist their child in their learning journey.
