YGLR, Sri Petaling (Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Li Ren) offers a warm atmosphere designed to inspire positive play and social interactions for children aged three to six years. The school takes elements from the “Sunshine Li Ren” curriculum and pairs it with locally appropriate practices to prepare children for primary school and beyond. It is child-centred and covers the full scope of skills that children should master at this stage so that they can have a happy childhood and a better tomorrow.

Equipped with developmentally supportive facilities

Nestled in the residential area of Taman Sri Endah, YGLR Sri Petaling is a brightly coloured facility with large outdoor areas that are matted and filled with a variety of gross motor equipment, which are all hallmarks of a YGLR school. Being a centre that emphasises learning through activities, play and outdoor exploration, there are many facilities that allow children to discover new concepts and new possibilities. The facilities include outdoor playground, aquaponics, little garden, wishy-washy land, carefully prepared indoor learning spaces with learning corners, library, messy art area, as well as spaces for sand and water play.

For the convenience of working parents, the school offers full day programmes and day care services, well as long operating hours (7.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.). They are open all year-round including over the school holidays, which is conducive to a consistent environment for children to develop good habits. The daily schedule includes allocated time slots for formal education, after-school activities, nap, and mealtimes. Nutrition is one of the cornerstone values of what YGLR, Sri Petaling offers children and their families. Meals boast nutritious breakfasts, lunches and snacks that are prepared from scratch with healthy ingredients daily.

To help students excel academically, homework coaching and tuition are available for subjects such as Bahasa Melayu, English, Mandarin, Science, and Math. There is also a weekend tuition programme on Saturdays, designed to assist students in improving their BM and Mandarin composition skills.

Wide scope of learning activities

Learning here is a fun adventure. It caters to children’s naturally inquisitive state of mind, hence lessons are carried out through a myriad of interactive activities, play-based learning, real-life experiences, and outdoor exploration. Children learn about the underlying concepts of how things work and relate them to the world around them. During these activities, children work cooperatively with friends in groups. Through this social process, they share knowledge with others, and strengthen skills, such as problem-solving and creative thinking, along the way. Teaching young children good habits and manners
