Tadika Sejuta Kasih, SS2 offers a safe and nurturing preschool environment for children aged 3 to 6 years. It was started 12 years ago by Ms. Abby Chin, a qualified early childhood educator. She leads a team of long-serving teachers who wholeheartedly supports children to discover their unique inner potential. Being a smaller service, they are able to provide a truly personalised programme based on children’s individual needs.
The kindergarten is located in a corner terrace house, surrounded by an outdoor compound where children are given the opportunity to play and develop their physical skills daily. Inside, it is neat and well-organised with an open-space classroom concept that provides good visibility across the school.
To give children a great start to education, Tadika Sejuta Kasih focuses on the mastery of knowledge and skills that form the foundation to primary school. Key learning areas in the curriculum include languages, mathematics, science, art and craft, music, physical development and moral studies. They emphasise on providing children with one-to-one reading – a literacy programme that ensures children are well-versed in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese. Besides benefiting struggling readers, this one-on-one setting is especially effective in identifying potential learning problems such as dyslexia or other special needs.
They also want children to gain a competitive edge in this increasingly competitive world by integrating an early coding programme into the timetable. Seeing how technology has become an indispensable part of our lives, even more so since the COVID-19 pandemic, introducing the basics of coding at a preschool age is a great idea. This programme uses fun methods that involve games and puzzles to teach children how to code. From this, they pick up essential skills such as collaborative teamwork, logical and critical thinking abilities, and problem-solving skills.
At Tadika Sejuta Kasih, they harness the natural energy of children and encourage them to actively participate in their own learning. It is through such hands-on experiences that children are able to internalise concepts and understand them well without memorising. Teachers put in a lot of effort to make sure children get the most out of their time here. They use new materials presented in different ways to keep children engaged; they arrange a variety of enrichment programmes (art, mathematics and Cambridge English) that give children a deeper grasp of concepts; they spark excitement and coordinate field trips to places like the chocolate factory, ostrich farm and bird park.
Tadika Sejuta Kasih, SS2 is like a hidden oasis for families in the heart of the city. Parents value the intimate connections between the school and the children. It is a refreshing find to witness parents cooperatively supporting the school during times of crisis, in terms of fees and transitioning to online learning. This is the ultimate measure of the school’s success.
