Kiddy123’s adventure in discovering more excellent preschools in Malaysia is still going strong and this time, we are taking on Selayang, a rapidly developing town and finding out what this bustling hotspot has to offer to parents looking for the best early childhood education for their child.

Tucked within a busy commercial area, CIC Bandar Baru Selayang is a good choice for parents who wish for their children ages 3 to 12 to have a modern and well-rounded educational experience based around the principles of Islam. Part of the CIC Enrichment Centre brand, there are 18 learning programmes to choose from that target core learning areas such as literacy, math, communication and language, and physical development, and there are plenty of hands-on activities too that are aimed at cultivating future leaders.
Part of the CIC Enrichment centre brand, CIC Melati Utama in Setapak offers a holistic educational experience centred around modern education with Islamic values. Located within a commercial building, the centre has bright and cheerful classrooms and spacious, beautifully designed interiors that support holistic learning. The curriculum features 18 learning programmes that target core learning areas such as literacy, math, communication and language, and physical development – and there are plenty of hands-on activities too that are aimed at cultivating future leaders.
CIC Melati Utama
Part of the CIC Enrichment Centre brand, CIC Prima Sri Gombak in Batu Caves offers a holistic educational experience centred around modern education with Islamic values. Located on the upper floor of a commercial shop lot, the centre is nevertheless spacious and is equipped with modern facilities designed to help with the child’s development, including learning corners and flexible spaces that can be converted into areas for physical activity. The curriculum features 18 learning programmes that target core learning areas such as literacy, math, communication and language, and physical development – and there are plenty of hands-on activities too that are aimed at cultivating future leaders.
Excel Preschool, Selayang Jaya employs the Montessori and education system to meet the developmental needs of children aged 3 to 6 years old. The learning program is designed to help children boost both sides of the brain – the creative right side and the logical left side. This in turn strengthens the whole brain, allowing children to flourish intellectually and emotionally.
The school grounds are surrounded by a pleasant secure environment that integrates outdoor learning experiences. This is great for children to sharpen their fine motor skills, art skills, gross motor skills, kitchen skills, care of self as well as care of the environment. Children get to build those little muscles during outdoor playtime and fitness exercises such as skipping, running and hula hoop hopping. Physical activities are not the only feature here that keeps children healthy. Mealtimes consist of nutrition dense foods that are low-mucus inducing and well-balanced. Other services at Excel Preschool include: homework guidance, daycare, concert and sport days.
Being a Montessorian and schooled in its ways, Ms. Sheena, Happy Bear Preschool’s principal has laid out and planned for the entire two buildings. Its flow from one area to the next, appear seamless. Great attention has been given to the littlest details, from the child height shelves, tables and chairs to the height of the taps and wash basins and the size of the toilet bowls.
Happy Bear Preschool employs the Montessori Method of teaching incorporated with a thematic approach. A thematic approach to teaching involves integrating all subject areas together under one theme. It crosses over subject lines and helps children relate basic academic skills to real-world ideas. These themed units incorporate reading, math, science and social studies, as well as the arts for a well-balanced curriculum.
Kiddizone Care Centre, Batu Caves, Selayang was set up with a clear motive to provide kids with proper early education which will help them navigate through their schooling life with more confidence. Lessons are designed to be thematic and in line with what students can expect in primary school, making for a somewhat seamless transition later on. Due focus is given to core subjects that will be taught at primary school, as well as in basic but important life skills and creative skills, such as arts, music, physical education, etc.
It is impossible to miss the fact that the learning environment at Kiddizone is well designed. Spacious yet incredibly cheerful, the entire space is not only conducive and fun, but it’s also fully air-conditioned for students’ comfort while they learn, play and develop. Amenities and facilities include a couple of trampolines, tunnel slides, ball pool, sand play, rock climbing wall, LEGO board and even a mini basketball court. To top it all off, an in-house chef sees to the little one’s meals, taking the burden off from parents when it comes to preparing their children’s food.
Inspired by Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, MRC Kids Selayang Baru emphasises whole brain approaches to foster intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth. Here, children aged 2 to 6 years old learn in an environment that develops their linguistic and mathematical skills while building creativity and character. Classrooms are bright and colourful, with engaging materials and tools that make learning fun. Interactive play zones also encourage children to work and play together, building up their confidence and social skills. Every centre is led by experienced, passionate teachers who are truly care about helping each child thrive in the early years of their lives.
