QQ Kindergarten & Nursery (Tadika Holistik Ikhlas), Simpang Ampat welcomes children between the ages 4 to 6 years to an environment that’s safe and supportive for their growth. Through a fun-filled programme, children are given lots of opportunities to “learn effectively, socialise easily and laugh heartily."
At QQ Kindergarten, we strive to create a positive atmosphere where children can be happy and motivated to learn. It is important for us that each child leaves our kindergarten with a great experience and that they go to primary school full of eagerness and confidence.
Situated on a serene street of residential houses, pick ups and drop offs are convenient for parents at any hour of the day, which is an ideal location for a kindergarten. Principal Sherin, an experienced teacher herself, puts in a lot of effort to ensure all aspects of the school are well taken care of. She wants children to enjoy coming every day and have fun learning alongside friends. Above all else, health and hygiene practices are particularly important, especially during times like now. Every space including classrooms and the outdoor compound are carefully cleaned and sanitised regularly, giving parents peace of mind. There’s also an air sterilizer inside the classroom and every student has their own set of stationeries to minimise the risk of infections.
In order to prepare children for primary school, the teachers here use a total development approach, enhanced with some Montessori methods of education, to nurture children holistically. Besides guiding the little ones to reach their full potential academically, socially, emotionally and physically, teachers also focus on encouraging children to grow up with positive character and moral values.
Teachers at QQ Kindergarten are always looking for creative ways that involve all five senses to keep children engaged and excited. As children learn in different ways (some learn better through hearing, while others learn through doing), it’s more meaningful to engage every sense in the teaching process. Also, children are naturally curious, since birth. For instance, when offered a new toy, they put the toy in their mouths, squeeze it with their hands, listen to the sound it makes and rub it on their cheeks to feel what it’s like. Teachers rightly tap into all the senses to make learning more fun. With a different topic every month, they incorporate a variety of hands-on activities that involve music, games, art and crafts, simple cooking, stories, dancing and many more into the lessons. This multi-sensory environment helps children learn faster, retain information longer and definitely makes the classroom a much happier place.
At the end of the time spent here at QQ Kindergarten, children will achieve the curriculum’s four pillars of learning:
Throughout the year, QQ Kindergarten welcomes parents to become part of their children’s educational journey. Parents get to join in the fun by celebrating Mid-autumn festival together in a lantern party, they go on outings to places like the mushroom farm and biscuit factory, they engage in exciting races on sports day, and enjoy their children’s performances during the annual concert. This is great for bonding and building positive relationships.
For effective learning to take place, teachers are required to attend training on a timely basis. This will help teachers improve their teaching strategies as well as classroom management skills so that children can have better learning outcomes. At QQ Kindergarten, the teachers’ love for the children takes precedence over everything else. They are attentive to children’s needs and well-being, and encourage children with positive words to bring out the best in them. The teachers also recognise that parents are important partners in children’s learning and therefore ensure that parents are regularly updated via progress reports and parent-teacher meetings.
