Highlights

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in their own unique way. Yet for parents navigating developmental challenges, questions about school readiness, communication, and independence often come with uncertainty.

These are some of the concerns that bring families to Miles Autism Academy in Petaling Jaya. Established in 2022 by co-founders Low Ree Ta and Irene Wong, the academy was founded with a mission to help children build the skills, confidence, and independence needed to thrive at home, in school, and within the community.

Today, Miles Autism Academy supports learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Speech and Language Delays, Emotional Regulation Challenges, Cognitive and Learning Difficulties, among other developmental needs. Backed by a multidisciplinary team, the academy provides assessment, intervention, school readiness support, mainstream school transition programmes, parent education, and community-based learning experiences to help every child reach their fullest potential.

Contemporary and Compassionate Approach to ABA Therapy

At Miles Autism Academy, children are supported through Contemporary ABA and Compassionate ABA approaches that place their wellbeing, individuality, and long-term success at the centre of learning. Rather than focusing solely on behaviours, the team takes time to understand each learner’s strengths, communication needs, emotional experiences, sensory preferences, and family goals, recognising that children learn best when they feel safe, understood, respected, and supported.

Every intervention plan is carefully personalised to help learners develop practical skills that matter in everyday life, including communication, emotional regulation, social interaction, independence, and meaningful participation at home, in school, and within the community.

Naturalistic teaching methods are incorporated whenever possible, allowing children to practise skills across different people, places, and situations. By combining evidence-based intervention with empathy and respect, Miles Autism Academy aims to help every child become a more confident, capable, and independent version of themselves.

A Unique Direct School Bridging Programme

One of the biggest milestones for many families is the transition from intervention programmes into a mainstream school environment. Miles Autism Academy developed its Direct School Bridging Programme in collaboration with participating Beaconhouse Preschools across Klang Valley. This structured pathway helps learners transition from Early Intervention Programmes into mainstream preschool settings with greater confidence and support.

The programme is unique for the close collaboration among parents, teachers, and the Miles clinical team. Teachers from participating Beaconhouse Preschools receive training from Miles Autism Academy, ensuring everyone works towards shared goals and expectations.

The transition process is carefully tailored to each learner’s readiness and individual needs, creating a smoother pathway towards successful school participation while giving families greater clarity and confidence in their child’s educational journey.
