The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission) has launched KinderHub@MCMC, an on-site childcare and early education centre at its headquarters, aimed at helping employees better manage work and family responsibilities.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who officiated the launch, said the initiative reflects the commission’s commitment to staff welfare while supporting a productive and resilient workforce.
Strengthening Family Wellbeing at Work
Fahmi described the centre as a significant step in supporting the wellbeing of MCMC employees and their families. He said having reliable childcare close to the workplace provides parents with peace of mind and enables them to focus more effectively on their professional duties.
He added that staff could be reassured knowing their children are cared for in a safe environment nearby while they carry out responsibilities related to making the internet safer for children and families.
Operations and Capacity
KinderHub@MCMC combines a daycare centre and preschool, operating from Monday to Friday, between 7am and 7pm. The facility can accommodate up to 153 children.
The centre began operations on Jan 15 and currently has 76 children enrolled, aged between three months and six years.
Early Childhood Care and Development
Designed to provide a nurturing and conducive learning environment, the centre supports the early childhood care, education, growth and development of employees’ children.
Model for Other Agencies
Fahmi expressed hope that KinderHub@MCMC could serve as a model for other statutory bodies, particularly those with the capacity to offer similar support. He encouraged public service leaders to study the initiative and consider replicating it, noting that agencies without such facilities could learn from MCMC’s approach.
