Parents want the very best for their children, so does Krista Setia Alam, Tadika Setia Pintar. The preschool opened its doors 10 years ago and its reputation within its catchment area speaks for itself. Many parents appreciate knowing that their child is benefiting from personalised care and quality education that positively supports children’s long-term growth. Krista Setia Alam definitely does not take this trust that parents place in them lightly. They understand that the early years of a child’s life are critical for development, therefore they strive to ensure that all children under their care are exposed to a broad range of experiences that can prepare them for later success, and most importantly, develop a lifelong love of learning.
Being a Krista school, children are guided to reach their full potential in all developmental areas according to the framework of their very own CAPABLE programme. The letters of the name of the programme represents the 7 pillars of a Krista education:
CAPABLE Programme | |
---|---|
Child-Centred Learning |
The programme is personalised according to the child’s developmental ability. |
Academic Foundation |
It lays a strong foundation of fundamental learning by covering a wide range of academic subjects. |
Practical Experiences |
Children learn the care of self and care of the environment through everyday life activities that are inspired by the Montessori method. This fosters a sense of independence and responsibility in children. |
Assessment Provision |
Regular assessments are conducted to further understand each child’s strengths, challenges and progress at school. |
Benevolence Inculcation |
Teachers instill good values, such as respect and honesty, in children as early on as possible. |
Learn Through Play |
Many fun, play-based activities are organised to help children understand how the world around them works. |
Exploratory Endeavours |
Children are encouraged to explore and use their imagination and creativity during the course of learning. This forms the basis for a lifelong love of learning. |
Every day is shaped around a combination of structured play, child-interest based activities, outdoor exercises and academic learning. Children are encouraged to explore a wide range of different materials that stimulate their senses. As they touch, taste, see, feel and manipulate objects during lessons, they gain knowledge across related subject areas, including language, science, mathematics, art, music and culture. There are daily opportunities for children to read in 3 languages to foster a love of reading, as well as practice good character development.
Children are also largely guided to pick up skills that will help them prepare for primary school. Exercises like learning to follow instructions, using the toilet and looking after their own belongings help develop a sense of independence and responsibility. Plus, children who stay for the full day programme are coached on a one-to-one basis to make sure they complete their homework. For a fully supported service, nutritious home-cooked meals and scheduled snacks are provided.
To take learning a step further, the school offers supplemental enrichment programmes that encourage children to expand their minds and stretch their creative abilities. A unique one in the plan is Playback Theatre – it is drama enacted based on real-life stories. This is an interesting drama-based approach to teach children listening skills, self-reflection, compassion and empathy. Additionally, whenever possible, the school organizes family-friendly workshops such as play therapy where parents can explore the importance of bonding with their children.
Even during the pandemic, parents continue to place their trust in Krista. No matter what the circumstances are, the school makes sure that they listen to parents’ feedback and adjust accordingly within their means. Just like the rest of us, they have heightened their safety protocols and transferred the majority of their learning online, including field trips. There’s no stopping Krista when it comes to education.
The teaching team at Krista Setia Alam consists of qualified teachers who work seamlessly together to create a safe and caring environment. As a group, they work hard to promote positive relationships and respectful behaviour dedicated to creating a more peaceful, harmonious world.
