Early Religious Education in the Spotlight
More than 19,500 young children from KEMAS kindergartens nationwide have led tarawih prayers, highlighting the impact of early Quranic education in Malaysia.
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed pride in the achievement, describing it as a meaningful outcome of the KEMAS Pre-Tahfiz Programme.
Nationwide Participation from KEMAS Kindergartens
A total of 19,533 pupils from 2,773 kindergartens under the Community Development Department took part in leading the prayers on the 27th night of Ramadan.
The event showcased young children confidently taking on religious responsibilities, reflecting their early exposure to Quranic learning.
Nurturing Love for the Quran from a Young Age
Ahmad Zahid said the programme plays an important role in instilling a love for the Quran among children from an early age.
He described the moment as a heartwarming reflection of an education approach that emphasises strong religious foundations alongside personal development.
“This is among the outcomes of efforts through the KEMAS Pre-Tahfiz Programme in shaping a generation that is close to the Quran,” he said.
Role of Teachers and Parents
The deputy prime minister credited the success of the initiative to the dedication of KEMAS teachers and the continuous support of parents.
He noted that the programme goes beyond academic learning, focusing on character building and the development of values rooted in faith.
Building Future Role Models
Ahmad Zahid added that the long-term goal of the programme is to nurture a generation that is literate in the Quran and able to serve as positive role models in society.
The achievement, he said, reflects the broader aim of strengthening early childhood education through a balanced approach that integrates knowledge, values and community support.
