Conveniently located in the heart of Kampung Baru Batu 9, Cheras in Selangor, is a two-storey detached shop lot with an open rooftop, preschool education centre, COZO Fun Learning Garden.
As the name suggests, one learns that COZO is committed not only to providing a more conducive learning environment but also to making learning more fun and engaging for more than 70 happy children aged between 3 to 6 years old at COZO as of this writing.
I decided to found COZO a few years ago simply because I wanted the best quality education possible for my two daughters. One can say that it was purely driven by one mother’s desires to make quality learning experience available to her children and perhaps to other children as well in the vicinity. In other words, my daughters were my inspiration then, they are still my inspiration now. I thus named the kindergarten after them, Coco and Zozo, which eventually becomes COZO
Explained Mrs Lim Lam Mei Ling, the managing director of COZO, a mother of two daughters with the background in Montessori education.
COZO places a great emphasis on the quality of teaching as well as its learning experience. Ensuring children are able to get the best from kindergarten is imperative. Early support from parents and early childhood educationists is just as important. Such support not only can enable young children to acquire important social and emotional skills but also helps to forge attitudinal change that is necessary for school and later life.
To ensure, if not to constantly improve the quality of teaching and learning at COZO, Mrs Lim Lam employs a team of dedicated and experienced early childhood education teachers. In accordance with such vision and values, series of comprehensive training and workshop for all teachers at COZO are organised from time to time. The kindergarten’s student-teacher ratio is as follows:
a) 15 children + One Teacher (4,5,6 years old)
b) 15 children + One teacher + one assistant (3 years old)
COZO strives to ensure that all children are well nurtured, well fed, well cared for, and are equipped with the range of skills they need to succeed in school cognitively, socially and emotionally. In accordance with this vision, COZO offers not only quality, mandatory academic subjects as encouraged and supported by Ministry of Education, but also a range of well-thought-out enrichment activities and programmes, which are available to all children no matter their age, nor their ability. Academic and social programmes at COZO are carefully segmented into various groups as follows:
1) 30% Left and Right Brain Programme:
2) 30% Montessori Programme:
3) 30% Academy Courses Work - MOE’s KSPK modules:
4) 10% Fun Learning
COZO prides itself on its spacious and appealing indoor areas. Three classrooms, one multipurpose hall, and a cafe on the first floor alone. Not forgetting another nine adequately-equipped classrooms on the second floor. The multipurpose hall on the first floor is the central point of the kindergarten serving not only as a place where information and communication are shared with the parents and teachers but also as a welcoming area for all their wonderful children as they enter to start their day. Twenty-four CCTV cameras are installed on the inside, as well as on the outside of the establishment. To make sure kids are getting the full range of nutrients that they need in appropriate portions, all healthy meals at COZO are professionally cooked and prepared by two resident chefs.
