Art Forest Early Childhood Education’s mission is to provide a happy, relaxed and supportive educational environment that nurtures children’s curiosity for learning. The team is committed to providing the tools, the guides and the prepared environments necessary to allow children, aged 3 to 6 years, to reach their social and academic potential.
The centre promotes attitudes of respect and acceptance of diversity within its culture. Children are valued for their own uniqueness. Teachers recognise their individual needs and capabilities and help them grow to their fullest. Children are encouraged to work in cooperation with others to develop their social abilities and communication skills.
Every aspect of a child’s development is carefully thought out when planning for the programming. The curriculum is age-appropriate and provides a framework for children to learn what is achievable for their level. The learning outcomes that the centre promotes ensure that children are ready for primary school. It supports children to build the foundational skills and knowledge needed for later learning, as well as life in general.
Classrooms are set up with learning corners that fosters cognitive, social, emotional and physical development – essential elements of school readiness. Each learning space is organised with a variety of materials to invite active exploration in the following areas:
Language Corner
There is a cozy, quiet corner where children can sit down and read, and fall in love with reading. There is an open shelf filled with story books that mimic a mini library experience. It sparks their imagination, strengthens their language and literacy skills, and encourages even the most reluctant readers to enjoy reading.
Art Corner
Teachers keep a supply of mixed materials that enable children to create and stimulate their imagination. When children get exposed to art, they acquire a special ability to think outside the box and be creative. It is also an effective sensorial experience that keeps everyone engaged and happy.
Manipulative Corner
This space contains a variety of apparatus such as puzzles, construction blocks, educational toys, and so on. Through these manipulative experiences and building activities, children get to strengthen their fine motor skills and learn to problem-solve.
Dramatic Play Corner
Children get to pretend and experiment being in the shoes of different roles. An assortment of props helps set stage to different scenes and children see the world through different characters. It does not only stimulate imagination but also develops social interaction skills.
There are also many opportunities for children to participate in outings and parent-child activities. Past excursions and activities include Christmas party celebrations, graduation ceremonies, walk in the forest, trip to the fire station, and more. These are wonderful experiences that help build close connections. Besides, teachers strive to nurture well-bred children with an appreciation for all things cultural. Exposure to classes such as dance, martial arts, art, drama, music and calligraphy teaches children perseverance and the beauty of global culture. This prepares them to thrive in life and the new world.
Teachers at Art Forest Early Childhood Education honours many ways of learning, thinking and expressing. They are committed to demonstrate knowledge and skills in multiple ways to captivate children and increase their learning ability. This gives children broader understandings that positively affect all the intelligences – logical-mathematical, musical, interpersonal, bodily-kinesthetic and linguistic – they have within them. As a result, children develop a passion for learning and become confident lifelong learners.
