Every parent dreams of witnessing their children’s success, starting from their school performances. However, for children to enjoy true success, they must first have the advantage of being proficient readers. It is the habit of reading that has opened the doors of success to most accomplished individuals out there. At Cosmotots-iqd, every effort is made to build this reading proficiency in children, starting from the critical learning years when their learning power is at its peak.
A reader-child is more than one who can sound out words. Not only has the child successfully imbibed the readership habit, but has also learned to teach himself/herself how to advance with every new book that is being read. As such, this child has tremendous advantages over those who cannot read and those who can but do not.
A reader-child is NOT one who has learned to recognize and sound out random words without understanding. This child is not one who knows the meaning of words but is unable to make sense of sentences and paragraphs. In other words, this child does not ‘learn’ the way a parrot does. Instead, he or she has been lovingly and professionally guided to the point of fully comprehending each word and understands their contexts in whatever he or she is reading.
A reader-child does not read because he has to. Nor does this child read out of duty or even to show off. The reader child reads for pleasure and therefore, development and evolvement.
Parents who have been sending their children to Cosmotots-iqd know all too well that their children’s love for books is no flash in the pan. They either have developed or are developing the love of reading which will from now on aid them in their quest for knowledge among others. Each student of Cosmotots-iqd is set to emerge as a reader-child who is able to follow and appreciate story plots and empathise with the characters in any books. Indeed, the reader child is able to enjoy reading while intuitively developing the habit of analysing characters and situations. And, because of this ability, he or she is able to advance intellectually and naturally with every new book read.
Parents, especially those with kindergarten and/or preschool going children have to understand the ramifications of their child not being able to read well upon enrolling into their primary school. It will be nothing short of a nightmare for their child as well as for them! If prevention is better than cure in terms of health, then being well prepared for school is definitely better than trying to catch up! For a child to experience a more gratifying and enriching schooling experience, trust us, he or she should ideally be a true reader first!
A true reader-child is brave and will readily try to discover new books on his or her own. A child must first be nurtured in his or her love for reading, and there should always be encouragement to discuss, debate, and lend their opinion on what they have read. At Cosmotots-iqd, children will be totally immersed in their lessons, which are well-designed and integrated as they acquire stronger and deeper language abilities. The quality of their thoughts inevitably improves as well, and so will their writing.
In Cosmotots-iqd, a 6-year old reader-child can quite easily manage simplified classics like Jungle Book and Peter Pan. By 9, books like Little House on the Prairie and Anne of Green Gables. By 12, J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings and by 14, the works of James A. Michener and John Steinbeck, perhaps even William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. Your child should have this advantage.
